I came to working in the outdoors quite late compared to some, as I started as a seasonal instructor at Newlands Centre near Keswick at the age of 29. That was back in 1995 and after 2 seasons I became a full time instructor just down the road at Derwent Hill LEA centre, where I worked for 10 years. I then tried a career change and became a police officer - something that I soon realised wasn’t for me and I left after 12 months to set up my own outdoor business.
